Helping Our Community
Young at Heart
“I will be your God throughout your lifetime–until your hair is white with age.
I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
At Dunn’s Chapel, we are blessed to have many older members. We value our Senior Saints and thank the Lord for the wisdom that they share. We believe that all life—at every age and stage—is a precious gift from God.
Young at Heart members meet the first Thursday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall (the brick building on the corner of Chapel Road and Dunbar Road). We sing and share prayer requests, testimonies, and announcements, and we often welcome speakers who bring information to keep us healthy, active, and well-informed. We end each meeting by enjoying a meal together. These meetings are a time of fellowship, friendship, and encouragement to all who come.
Young at Heart meetings are open to anyone in our community who would like to come, regardless of church membership. We would like to welcome new friends and family to our meetings anytime!
Young at Heart does not meet during July.
Encouraging Homebound Members
Dunn’s Chapel cares for our members who are unable to attend church through cards, visits, and ongoing prayer. CD recordings of our services are also available. If you know a Senior Saint who needs encouragement, please contact the church at 803-755-9685.
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink”
The Ebenezer Food Pantry helps families lacking adequate meals in the South Congaree community. Dunn’s Chapel partners with them during the Souper Bowl of Caring as well as through out the year to ensure no one goes hungry. Canned/boxed food and monetary donations are accepted. For more information contact the Ebenezer church office 803-755-2883.
Community Sunrise Service
“He is not here; he has risen!”
We gather with other community churches in South Congaree at sunrise on Easter to honor our risen Savior. Meeting at the South Congaree arena, each church takes on a different part of the service that unites us in celebration.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Kids Kamp is a weeklong camp held at the South Congaree arena each summer. It is a free camp for children ages 4 to 15 teaching God’s love and forgiveness. Dunn’s Chapel collects donations at pivotal points leading up to the summer to help prepare. For more information contact the Kids Kamp office 803-753-7443.
Community Thanksgiving Service
“Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.”
Our thanksgiving service is rotated yearly with each participating church taking a turn at hosting the event. After the service we meet for finger foods and fellowship.
